Skip the Baggage Claim at MCO: How the New Luggage Delivery Service at Walt Disney World Resort Makes Your Family Vacation Even Smoother
If you are planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World you probably already are anxious getting through the MCO airport in Orlando with checked luggage, kids, strollers, navigating to ground transportation on a shuttle, private vehicle, taxi or ride share to your resort, which all takes time. That time could be spent in the pool, relaxing by the resort, or even in one of the Disney Florida theme parks.
At Mom Approved Travel, we’re all about making every part of your family vacation smoother from booking to baggage claim! When Disney releases updates like this, our team immediately pulls details into our processes so our clients can travel smarter, save time, and skip the stress.
Here’s the great news: WDW is piloting a luggage delivery program for select onsite resort guests that lets you bypass baggage claim entirely and have your checked bags sent directly to your Disney Resort hotel!
From a Mom Approved Travel perspective, this is a HUGE convenience for families: with less hauling, less waiting, less drama, less impatient excitement through terminals with tired kids and a smoother “Day 1” arrival, which means less stress, and MORE magic!

What Families Should Know about utilizing Disney Arrival Luggage Transfer Services
Here are the Mom-Approved travel tips so you make the most of this service:
✔ Confirm your eligibility:
- Flying a domestic Southwest flight into MCO? Check.
- Received an email from Disney because you are staying at a participating Disney Resort? Check.
- Arriving Nov. 18 or later? Check.
- Registered within 30-5 days before departure? Check.
✔ Luggage Drop
- Tag your bag with the provided BagCheck luggage tag (important)
- We always recommend taking a PHOTO of your baggage claim tag when dropping off your bags so you have tracking information in case you misplace your claim ticket.
- We always strongly recommend putting AirTags in your luggage no matter how or where you travel to, so that if your luggage decides to take its own vacation while in transit you have a tool to help you get reunited with your pajamas quickly!
- Check your luggage at your home airport with Southwest Airlines.

✔ Plan your packing accordingly:
- Disney’s announcement says “within approximately 4 hours” for delivery, so plan your packing to accommodate your first park or resort activity accordingly and ensure any immediate use items (swim clothes, park outfits etc.) are in your carry-on bag in case you want to head to your resort pool, one of the waterparks, or a theme park before your checked bags arrive.
- Quick reminder: no matter what kind of flight you take, always keep essentials like medication, government ID’s, a change of clothes, and your children’s can’t sleep without pacifier or stuffed friend in your carryon luggage, never check hard to replace items.
✔ Back-up plan:
- Because the new Disney World Hotel luggage delivery service is still a pilot, be prepared in case there are a few bumps to smooth out, which is why we want you to keep receipts and tracking info for your bags.
- Consider travel day logistics: If you want to have your things quickly, you may still want the option to pick up baggage yourself to avoid delays.
