Hi! I’m Christy Slavik, the founder of Mom Approved Travel and a Professional Travel Advisor specializing in curating family and multigenerational vacations.

I started my career as a Travel Advisor in 2015 and have spent more than a decade helping families make sense of complicated vacation decisions – from choosing the right cruise ship or resort to deciding where to save, where to splurge and what their family can happily skip.

My own travels have taken me throughout the United States, Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska, with plenty of time spent aboard cruise ships, in all inclusive resorts and at Disney and Universal destinations. I travel frequently because first-hand experience helps me give clients better advice about what something is really like – and just as importantly, who it is actually right for.

ABOUT ME

Before becoming a full-time Travel Advisor and travel agency owner, I worked for many years in land development in the homebuilding industry. Problem solving, research, collaboration, advocacy and communication were all central to that work, and those same skills coupled with my straightforward but friendly nature, became the foundation for the planning processes and client experience we developed at Mom Approved Travel.

I love spending my own vacation time in Disney and Universal theme parks, somewhere warm and sunny in the Caribbean (Turks and Caicos is my favorite), exploring the beauty of Alaska or aboard a cruise ship where someone else gets to do the cooking and laundry.

Mom Approved Travel was built around one of my strongest travel beliefs:

I specialize in family and multigenerational vacations because planning for several ages, interests, personalities and travel styles requires more than finding a hotel with enough beds. I help families think through pace, room configurations, activities, accessibility needs, budgets and competing priorities so the trip works for the people actually taking it.

Disney and Universal have been a significant part of my work since becoming a Travel Advisor. I plan Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani and Adventures by Disney vacations as well as Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Kids Resort vacations.

Cruising has become one of my primary areas of expertise, particularly Royal Caribbean International, Disney Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Alaska and cruises from Galveston.
I help families compare ships, itineraries, staterooms and cruise lines rather than assuming the newest ship or lowest fare is automatically the right choice.

For Alaska, that also includes helping clients decide between cruise lines, one-way and roundtrip itineraries, Glacier Bay options and land and sea cruisetours.

Group Travel, Extended Families & Small Businesses

I also really love working with small businesses, groups of friends and large extended families to take away the drama and confusion of planning a big vacation, group trip, or a leisure or reward/incentive trip. Helping an Office Manager or team Mom plan and coordinate a trip is a lot like taking care of the group Mom! I help organize the moving pieces, keep communication clear and make the planning process easier for the person who would otherwise be responsible for keeping everyone on track.

The hardest part of my job is keeping well-intentioned Moms, Dads and Grandmas from shoving 20 pounds of fun into a 10-pound sack when it comes to vacation planning!

I will help you prioritize what matters to your people, know where to save, where to splurge, what not to miss and what you can skip. I will also — lovingly — have the hard conversation with you about adding in a break if your itinerary looks like it needs it.

As the founder of Mom Approved Travel, I also spend a significant part of my time developing the Travel Advisors on our team. I believe strong advisors are built through a combination of education, first-hand experience, thoughtful systems, professional standards and the confidence to make good decisions for their clients. My leadership style is hands on and growth focused: I show the why behind our processes and best practices, encourage advisors to develop their own areas of expertise and encourage them to continue learning, as the industry is always changing.

Mom Approved Travel is intentionally boutique, and I want our Advisors to build sustainable businesses rooted in strong client relationships, professional knowledge and sound travel advising, not simply chase transactions. I am especially passionate about helping newer Advisors grow into confident professionals while giving experienced Advisors the tools, community and support to continue sharpening their skills.
