Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort Hotels

We are going to start with Walt Disney World’s top tier Disney-owned hotel category, Disney Deluxe Resort Hotels.

You will notice a second category below, the Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts. Some of the Disney Resorts have a “sister” Disney Villa side to the resort with slightly different room configurations and amenities- we separated these out in their own category for clarity.

Though many lump all of the Disney Deluxe Resorts into one group, these resorts really have location or transportation subcategories:

  • Monorail area resorts
  • Epcot area resorts
  • Magic Kingdom area resorts

Besides location, some of the benefits of choosing to stay at a Disney Deluxe level hotel, is the deluxe resorts generally have:

  • higher level amenities
  • larger room sizes than moderate or value resorts
  • most Deluxe resorts can accommodate larger families of 5 (or larger)
  • comfortable lounges with bar access
  • access to exclusive extended evening hours on select nights
  • offer table service and fine dining options
  • deluxe pools with slides, hottubs, cabanas and upgraded poolside amenities
  • most have concierge or club level amenity room categories
  • upgraded bathroom amenities (including upgraded toilet paper)
  • some deluxe resorts have multi-room suite options

It is worth noting there are several Deluxe hotel options that offer covered walkways so you will not walk through the rain to get to breakfast or back to the room after a day at the parks, which is very Mom Approved!

Spending the holidays at a Deluxe Resort is also extra magical as some of the resorts have large gingerbread displays, elaborate decorations and multi-story Christmas trees. You could say the seasonal decor is deluxe as well!

Why stay at a Walt Disney World Hotel ?

Family walking on path at Disney's Polynesian Resort at Disney World

Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel allows you to stay in the heart of the magic!

Why you should stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel

The most important decision you need to make when planning your Walt Disney World Vacation, is choosing when you should visit. The second most important decision is, where you will stay. There are so many options out there, it can feel very overwhelming, hence where your Mom Approved Travel Advisor comes in.

They will simplify the options for you based on your unique vacation needs. Remember, it is important to know we are Professional Travel Advisors, not order takers. Your Disney vacation is not simply a transaction to us, we are invested in making sure you have the ideal Walt Disney World experience for your family.

As an EarMarked agency and Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, we know why staying in a Walt Disney World resort makes the best return on investment of your vacation dollars for nearly all of our MAT client families.

Here are the benefits of staying on property at a Walt Disney World resort hotel:

  • Convenience – Truly this is one of the top reasons to stay on property at Disney. The close proximity to the parks means you can get to the parks quicker, and spend less time in traffic. By staying in a convenient location, you can spend your time actually vacationing instead of traveling. This means more time relaxing, playing in the pools, or eating Mickey bars in the park! This also means it is MUCH easier to take a mid-day break, or for only part of your family go back to the resort for a nap.
  • Complimentary transportation – Having the option of taking complementary Disney transportation to all of the parks means you don’t have to negotiate traffic, find a parking spot, or navigating a map.You can relax (or even close your eyes for a few minutes at the end of the night) while the Disney resort to park transportation whisks you to the parks quickly and efficiently. Resort buses run about every twenty minutes, but early in the morning and near park closing they run more frequently. Some resorts have additional forms of transportation available including the Disney monorail, the Skyliner (a gondola-like system), water taxi or even short walking options. The logistics of the Disney Transportation system are incredible and it is really neat to see how quickly and efficiently their team moves families where they need to go!
  • Priority access to Advanced Dining Reservations – for table service restaurants. Staying at a Walt Disney World resort means you can reserve all of your Disney dining reservations at 60 days prior to your check-in date. Offsite guests can reserve dining only at 60 day prior to each day of their trip- which means they have to do to 6 am (est time) dining reservations every single day, where onsite guests can do them all at once. This means more sleep for you. Want even more sleep? Talk to your MAT Travel Agent about how they can your dining reservations for you!
  • Early entry into the Walt Disney World theme parks – onsite resort guests will get an extra 30 minutes in the parks (with lower crowds) each morning, which some may feel is not a lot of extra time until they see the lines waiting outside the main gate at public park opening time – it’s quite the sight! And remember if you want to be at the parks when they open, but you don’t want to be there 30 minutes early- you can be 2 minutes early and be ahead of the crowds! Early theme park entry is for all 4 parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.
  • Extended evening hours – Disney Deluxe Resort and Disney Deluxe Villa level guests have the option to utilize extended evening hours on select nights at select parks, these hours are posted on the Disney Parks calendar and your MAT Advisor can assist to tailor a park touring plan for you if you would like to utilize this onsite resort benefit.
  • Priority access to Individual Lightning Lane purchases – If this sounds like Greek to you, it’s okay, your MAT Advisor will make it make sense when it is closer to time to travel! It’s a good thing and will allow you the option of skipping the standby lines for the highest demand rides in each park.
  • Convenience of Charging Privileges – Staying onsite means you have the option to put a credit card on file and use your MagicBand to charge dining, gift shop and other purchases to your room.
  • Discounted MagicBands – You have the option to purchase MagicBand+ at a discount when ordering through  your My Disney Experience app.
  • For 2025 vacation packages, Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests can enjoy a complimentary water park admission on check-in day, included with your stay.
  • The Disney Bubble – while this benefit is not an “official” Disney hotel benefit, it is one that will be absolutely felt by your family. It is hard to describe to folks who have only known off-site Disney vacation stays, but staying within the Disney bubble allows you to stay immersed in the magic of Disney storytelling, Disney details, hidden Mickeys and allows you to keep the business of everyday life away for a bit longer. Families feel more relaxed, more immersed and the experience feels a bit more fantastical. You may feel as if you have truly escaped the troubles of the world for a bit and your trip will feel more magical. Staying in the Disney bubble also means you interact solely with the incredible Cast Members who REALLY make the difference in your Disney vacation.
