Is Disney Cruise Concierge Worth It?

Disney Cruise Line’s Concierge level is the ultimate “Mom Approved” way to sail. Disney Cruise Line’s premium level of stateroom accommodations, service and access, with benefits that begin before your cruise and continue throughout your vacation.

Depending on the ship and Concierge stateroom category you choose, that can mean additional space, private Concierge areas, priority access, dedicated Shoreside and onboard Concierge teams, and little extras designed to remove some of the friction from vacation.

It is one of our favorite ways to really allow Mom and Dad to BE on vacation, but the exact accommodations, spaces and benefits can vary by ship and stateroom category.
Here is what you can experience when sailing in a DCL Concierge stateroom:

Spacious Concierge Stateroom and Suite Accommodations

Disney Cruise Line offers both Concierge staterooms and larger Concierge suites, and the available accommodations vary considerably from ship to ship.

• Concierge level accommodations can range from elevated family staterooms to spacious 1-Bedroom, Royal and specialty suites.
• Depending on the ship and category, Concierge accommodations may offer private verandahs, additional living space, multiple bathrooms, separate bedrooms and enhanced storage.
• Concierge Guests receive upgraded in-room amenities, including robes and slippers, down duvets in main bedrooms and other elevated touches such as premium bath products, welcome gifts, turndown service with a sweet treat, and enhanced in-room service
• Larger Concierge suites may include additional living and dining areas, wet bars, multiple bathrooms and other premium features.
• Stocked refrigerator with bottled waters and sodas of your choice
• Some benefits are specific to certain suite categories rather than every Concierge stateroom.

Mom Approved Tip: Not every Concierge cabin is a suite, and not every family needs the largest accommodation available. We look at the actual room layout just as closely as we look at the Concierge benefits.

Exclusive Concierge Areas onboard

One of the biggest differences between a standard Disney Cruise stateroom and Concierge is access to dedicated spaces reserved for Concierge Guests.
Depending on the ship, these can include:

• A private Concierge Lounge with dedicated Concierge hosts, hot and cold foods, beverages and quiet relaxation spaces
• An exclusive Concierge sundeck with lounge seating and outdoor relaxation space (which is also the spot for exclusive character meets onboard on many ships) 
• Private Concierge only hot tub on the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny
• Concierge wading pool on Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny
• Exclusive character experiences offered for Concierge Guests on select sailings
• A welcome-aboard lunch with specially curated menu includes a glass of beer or wine if desired for Concierge Guests on embarkation day 

The exact layout and amenities vary by ship, and the newest Disney Cruise ships offer a noticeably different Concierge footprint than the classic ships.

Mom Approved Tip: This is one of the reasons we look at the specific ship, not just the word “Concierge.” If private outdoor space is one of the main reasons you are considering the upgrade, the ship itself matters.

Private Concierge Lounge Access

The Concierge Lounge is one of the benefits families tend to notice most because it gives you a dedicated place to relax, grab a snack or drink, play a game and connect with your Concierge hosts without going to Guest Services.
Depending on the ship and time of day, the lounge can offer:

• Complimentary hot and cold food selections throughout portions of the day, on average 7am to 10pm daily
• Unlimited bottled water, juice, milk, soft drinks and other nonalcoholic beverages to take to your room or onshore
• Specialty coffee and espresso drinks
• Complimentary alcoholic beverages during designated Concierge happy-hour periods for Guests age 21+
• Comfortable seating, games and a quieter space away from the busier public areas of the ship
• Dedicated Concierge hosts who can assist with dining, activities, requests and questions during your sailing

The size, layout and location of the Concierge Lounge vary by ship.

• On the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, the Concierge areas are located high on the ship and centrally located on Deck 12 near the dedicated Concierge staterooms and suites.
• On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the Concierge Lounge is located separately from many of the Concierge accommodations, creating a different overall experience.

Mom Approved Tip: If you think your family will use the lounge several times a day for coffee, snacks, drinks, quiet time or help from the Concierge team, this benefit can add real value. If you expect to spend nearly all of your time elsewhere on the ship, it may matter much less.

Priority Access and Onboard Convenience Everywhere

One of the biggest appeals of Concierge is having fewer little vacation logistics to manage yourself.
Concierge benefits can include:

• Separate, dedicated Concierge check-in at the port
• Priority boarding at embarkation allowing earlier access to the ship if desired
• No rigid port arrival time allows for flexibility
• Early luggage delivery so you can get settled in sooner
• Priority or reserved seating for onboard shows, even high-demand shows like Moana on the Disney Treasure, so you don’t have to fight for seats to have a great view
• Concierge exclusive character experiences such as meet and greets 
• Priority debarkation, perfect for those who dislike crowds and lines
• Exclusive Concierge Baggage Claim Staging Area, making luggage easier to find 

The exact priority benefits can vary by ship, port and itinerary, so we do not recommend booking Concierge based on one specific operational perk alone.

Mom Approved Tip: For some families, this is where Concierge really earns its value. If standing in lines, handling changes or figuring out onboard logistics tends to drain your vacation energy, having a dedicated Concierge team can make the cruise feel noticeably easier

Shoreside Concierge Service

One of the most valuable Concierge benefits begins before you ever step onboard.

Disney Cruise Concierge Guests can currently submit requests to the Shoreside Concierge Services team beginning 130 days before sailing, giving them Disney Cruise Line’s earliest opportunity to request many popular onboard activities and experiences. Online booking for Concierge Guests opens at 123 days before sailing.

Mom Approved Travel works with the Shoreside Concierge team to help our clients identify and prioritize the experiences that matter most to their vacation, which may include:

• Port adventures and excursions
• Activities at Disney’s Private islands Castaway Cay or Lookout Point including reserving private Cabanas 
  (Cabana Rentals on island can be near impossible to get without a concierge cabin)
• Adult exclusive dining reservations at Enchante, Palo and Remy – dining locations vary by ship
• Beverage Tastings and seminars
• Appointments at Senses Spa and salon services
• Reservations for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Pirate’s League (on select sailings)
• Virtual Sports and Golf Simulator on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream
• Reservations for Royal Court Royal Tea and Olaf’s Royal Picnic (for select sailings)
• It’s A Small World Nursery Reservations for littles under 3
• Specific dining rotations, seating requests, and any food allergies or special needs in both dining rooms and in the concierge lounge
• Character meet and greets reservations for characters, such as the Royal Gathering to see onboard princesses, or the Heroic Encounter for a Marvel Day at Sea sailing

Concierge Guests receive an earlier opportunity to request these experiences, but availability is never guaranteed and many activities carry an additional cost.

Mom Approved Tip: The 130-day benefit is most valuable when you already know what matters most to your family. We help our clients sort the true priorities from the “that would be nice” list before the request window opens.

Additional Onboard Concierge Benefits

Beyond the lounge, priority access and Shoreside planning support, Concierge Guests also receive a collection of smaller perks that can make the cruise feel noticeably easier.

Depending on the ship and stateroom category, benefits can include:

• Expanded in room dining service menus
• Complimentary popcorn for onboard shows 
• Complimentary Wifi, every guest 18+ will have access to Basic Surf connectivity
• One of our favorite Concierge Suite perks: the PILLOW MENU
• No need to stand in line at Guest Services EVER, your concierge staff will act as your private guest services.

Some of these perks may sound small on their own, but together they can remove a surprising amount of everyday vacation friction.

Mom Approved Tip: This is where Concierge often starts to feel different from simply booking a nicer cabin. It is the combination of little conveniences, private spaces and having someone available to help when you need it.

Disney Cruise Concierge tends to provide the most value for families who will actually use the additional space, private Concierge areas, priority access, appreciate little touches, and dedicated service.

We especially see families appreciate it for multigenerational vacations, milestone celebrations and trips where convenience, private space, bypassing lines and personalized service are high priorities.

Mom Approved Tip: Do not choose Concierge based solely on the length of the perk list. A benefit only adds value if your family will actually use it. But we do think having your DCL Concierge team onboard coupled with MAT Service before, during and after your sailing is the ULTIMATE way to sail on Disney Cruise Line!
