Stay in the Magic - Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort

Pixar Place Hotel is the very first hotel in the world that solely celebrates Pixar animation Studios. Pixar has been a part of Disney film and animation history for decades, and the opening of Pixar Pier Hotel in Disneyland Resort beautifully celebrates the incredible stories, wonder, and artistry Pixar has brought to life with this one-of-a-kind fully immersive Pixar love letter.

LOCATION
Pixar Place is one of three Disneyland Resort Hotels inside the “Disneyland bubble” at 1717 South Disneyland Drive in Anaheim, California in 92802, the Pixar Place Hotel is considered an on-property Disneyland Resort Hotel and comes with distinctive perks like:

  • Early Entry into the theme parks
  • Resort charging Privileges
  • Preferred access to some dining reservations
  • and more

One of our favorite location perks of the Pixar Place Hotel, it has its very own private, dedicated entrance to Disney California Adventure theme park hidden across the street near Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. VIP entrance? That’s Mom Approved.

A hotel room key IS required and you will pass through security and scan your park ticket to access the park. This private entrance will open into the Paradise Garden Park area near The Little Mermaid- Ariel’s Undersea Adventure near the Corn Dog Castle and it makes for a quick getaway back to the hotel after World of Color or a long day at the parks!

HISTORY
A little background for Disney history buffs, the Pixar Place Hotel originally joined the Disneyland Hotel portfolio in 1995 as the Disneyland Pacific Hotel, and was re-themed to Paradise Pier Hotel in 2000 with the opening of Disney California Adventure. We have seen many hotel re-themes before, but this 2024 Pixar Place Hotel opening is not only beautiful, but a thoughtful transformation celebrating the creative and innovative contributions of Pixar. It’s gorgeous.

Buzz Lightyear art at Pixar Place

During the day, the exterior of the hotel is deceivingly plain with a few signature red, yellow and blue highlights, but soon as you near the entrance you will notice an explosion of color. And once you step inside, you step foot into a artful tribute to Pixar’s animation process filled with color. When you walk through the front entry, you will see the larger-than-life iconic Luxo Jr lamp balancing on the Pixar ball. We think the added seating to the lobby is nice and allows a great spot to look up and enjoy the abstract mobile of Pixar characters surrounded by beautiful mosaic walls and awash with natural light.

Art is absolutely everywhere. From the large character art framed by light at the check-in desk, to the display cases throughout featuring concept art, clay models, and iconic characters to the murals on the walls and Easter Eggs hidden throughout the hotel property. There is also a lobby piano, where a real Joe Gardner (from Soul) will play Jazz tunes and an exclusive character meet with Inside Out’s lovable Bing Bong is available at specific points in the day. Pixar Place Hotel has coordinated Music and lights which add to the incredible ambiance. No Disney resort hotel would be complete without a merchandise shop, and Stor-E carries some Pixar Place branded things and your normal park offerings.

We really like the improvements to the elevators, which used to be pretty slow. Now you have “smart elevators” to select your floor and the pad directs you to the specific elevator to use.  Also, while you are at the elevator, you may notice something a little different than most US hotels you have been to… an actual 13th hotel floor. It is a common US construction superstition to not include a 13th floor, but this property when originally built was owned by a Japanese company, whose construction culture did not share the superstition. When Disney took over the property, they did not change this, so the 13th floor remains! Keep you eyes our for hidden Pixar characters in the elevator.

Pixar Place Hotel Guest Rooms

We love the contemporary and colorful take on these new rooms, a significant improvement from the previous design. The focus of the rooms, regardless of the configuration is the above bed mural featuring Pixar art and characters. One of our favorite improvements is with the lighting, every single light is now adjustable with dimmer switches so you are in charge of the mood! And having your very own iconic Luxo Jr lamp on the sizeable desk makes a great spit to draw, read or get a little work done if needed There are also a TON of outlets, and USB ports for charging all the things and plenty of storage space.

Bathrooms are light and bright with plenty of counter space, but our favorite part about the bathrooms is the size of the walk-in showers, which are a larger than a standard hotel room, so if you have to hop in to wash littles, you have a little more space to move around in!

There are several room options, remember your Mom Approved Travel Advisor will help you find the best option for your family, keeping in mind the differences that are valued by you and your family.

Pixar theming is prevalent at the third floor Pixar Place Hotel pool area, where you’ll find an expansive swimming pool, a thrilling “Crush’s Surfin Slide” waterslide, a relaxing whirlpool, and a “Finding Nemo” themed splash pad designed especially for kids with succulent garden acting as the “coral reef” and custom seaweed light fixtures.
