Mom Approved Overview - Disney Cruise Line

Plan Your Disney Cruise Line Vacation (Without the Overwhelm)

At Mom Approved Travel, one of our core beliefs is Moms should get a vacation too. What that means: Mom should actually enjoy going on a Disney Cruise—she shouldn’t be staying up late figuring out port excursions, packing lists, or fretting over final-payment deadlines.

When Mom hires Mom Approved Travel, she can spend her time and energy elsewhere and get back to the business of Mom life. Our personalized planning protects your precious time and hard-earned travel dollars. We built unique Mom Approved processes so you focus on the fun and we handle the logistical noise.

Disney Cruise Line gets this vibe too: your server WILL CUT UP YOUR KID’S FOOD FOR YOU so you can have a hot meal. Need we say more? Your family is unique, which is why it’s important to have a Travel Advisor who will curate a cruise that fits your interests, needs, wishes and budget.

Which Disney Cruise Ship is best for my family?

The Short answer: There is no cookie cutter answer. It depends on ages, vibe, itinerary and budget. This is why we compare dining, kids clubs, entertainment and stateroom layouts to pick the right fit for YOUR family — at no extra cost.

Disney Ship “Families” at a Glance

Classic Duo — Disney Magic & Disney Wonder
There is something very special about these smaller, cozier ships. Easier to navigate with littles, less walking, more “classic Disney” feel. Great for Alaska and certain Europe routes. Fewer people for the soft-serve machine = win.

Dream Class — Disney Dream & Disney Fantasy
Mid-large ships with the AquaDuck water coaster, big kid clubs, and lots of dining/theater space. Great balance of “wow” and manageable. Caribbean/Bahamas mainstays; Fantasy does longer 7-nighters, Dream pops around (Bahamas, Europe, occasionally NYC).

Triton Class (Newest) — Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny
The newest, flashiest ships in the fleet. AquaMouse, FOMO themed Lounges after Star Wars, Haunted Mansion and more, Marvel and Arendelle themed dining shows, and a concierge sundeck that’s actually dreamy. Cabins feel newer, storage is rethought (and HAD to be have been approved by a Mom), tech is newest, latest, and greatest. Higher demand sometimes means a higher price point.

Is Disney Cruise Concierge Worth It?

A couple sitting at a table in Remy, the adult only restaurant on Disney Cruise Line

Quick version: Sometimes. Concierge buys you priority booking, a private lounge/sundeck, larger suites and extra hand holding, but it can add to the price. Value is defined differently by everyone, so we run the math to  you only splurge when it serves YOUR family.

What Concierge Actually Includes

  • Priority everything: earliest booking windows for activities, cabanas on Castaway Cay, adult dining (Remy/Palo/Enchanté), spa treatments, kids’ clubs open houses, character meets, etc.
  • Dedicated shoreside team before you sail & onboard concierge hosts once you’re on the ship.
  • Private spaces: lounge with snacks/drinks, a sun deck on the Wish/Treasure/Destiny class, reserved seating for some shows/events.
  • Room categories: larger family suites, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms and the fancy-shmancy suites (Royal, Tower, Funnel, depending on ship).
  • Embarkation & debarkation perks: priority check-in, escorted boarding, and an easier disembarkation day, which is huge with littles or mobility needs.

When Concierge May Makes Sense

There are NO cookie cutter answers for this, as each family, each vacation is unique. But here are a few things to think about:
  • Milestone trips: birthdays, multi-generational celebrations, vow renewals. When “extra special” is the assignment!
  • You really want hard to get experiences: cabanas, adult dining prime times, specialty tastings, nursery hours.
  • You value private spaces: A quiet sundeck exclusive to concierge guests? Heaven.
  • You truly need the space: with strollers, pack-n-plays, medical or sensory equipment, suite square footage matters.
  • A short sailing as a splurge, over sailing in a non-concierge cabin for a week.

When Concierge may Not Be Right For Your Next Sailing

Again, there are NO cookie cutter answers for this, as each family, each vacation is unique. But here are a few things to think about:
  • Short sailings (3–4 nights) with port-heavy days: You may feel you may not maximize lounge/sundeck time.
Some of our families are fans of concierge regardless of the length of stay, as it is the way they prefer to travel.
  • Budget already tight: If concierge eats the budget that would fund excursions, pre or post stays or a second vacation, maybe skip it.
  • You’re flexible & low-maintenance: If you don’t care about Remy, cabanas or exact activity slots, non-concierge staterooms are fantastic.
  • You need two cabins instead of one suite: Sometimes two non-concierge cabins beat one concierge suite on both price and logistics (privacy for teens!).

How We Decide When Recommending For You

We pull actual sailing quotes, compare the cost, talk about the perks you’d realistically use, and show you the differences.
For some, the additional cost with guarantees for nursery hours, private deck space and having concierge service is you really want.
Ultimately, we are here to protect your VALUE – your time and wallet in a way that matches YOUR travel love language.

Will My Kids (and Teens) Actually Have Fun?

A family dressed a pirates smiling and enjoying Pirate night fireworks o

Disney Cruise Line is the BEST cruise line for kids

We are going to warn you, you MAY have to pull your kids off this ship when it’s time to go home, because they will NEVER want to leave. Hands down, Disney is the absolute best cruise line for kids and even your tweens and teens will have a great time.

Warning: Chances are they’ll be asking you when the next Disney cruise for your family will be before you even leave the ship!

For busy parents who struggle getting away, Disney cruises are a GREAT option for a family cruise because even though you are cruising with the kids, you can choose to have some time to yourselves because there is SO MUCH for them to do! Yes, you can have a date night or a date day for just the two of you while on vacation with the kids!

Adventure and fun for the kiddos 3-12 years old

From day to evening, your children can explore Disney Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, Disney’s award winning youth program!

The Youth Counselor staff in Disney’s Kid’s Clubs are unbelievably fun and take their roles very seriously! You can be assured safety is very big deal on Disney Cruise Line and ratios of staff to kids are based on Florida State guidelines. You can relax knowing these young professionals will make sure that your kids are not only in a safe environment, but having fun and engaged!

Don’t worry, kids are broken up into age groups for developmentally appropriate fun in themes that vary on each ship. Your kiddos will interact with characters, might play dress up with Tinkerbell, be trained by Jedi knights, sing with Olaf, do science experiments, art & crafts, play video games, board games, read in a library and so more!

Our favorite part about bringing the kids on a Disney cruise, Oceaneer Club, Oceaneer Lab, Vibe and Edge are included in your cruise fare!

Have teens sailing with you on your Disney cruise?

Don’t worry, Disney has special spaces and events for your teenagers as well that will induce smiles, laughter, and new core memories… not an eye roll!

These activities include organized sports, pool parties, karaoke, trivia, scavenger hunt adventures, DJ lessons, gaming and so much more! Tweens and Teens are broken into 2 groups, 11-14 years will get to hang in Edge and 14-17 years can connect in Vibe. Your tweens and teens will enjoy exclusively teen areas, activities and fun where they can chill with other teens their age while chaperoned by truly cool counselors in laid back and comfortable environment.

Are you thinking about bringing your baby or toddler on a Disney cruise?

There are childcare options for kids under 3 years as well, please note offerings will vary slightly by ship. Your MAT Advisor will go over the specifics for your sailing.

The “it’s a small world” nursery is available for an additional charge based on hourly rates, so parents can have a little time for daytime fun or enjoy an evening out without the littles.

Is There Enough For Adults on a DIsney Cruise?

Woman in robe entering the tranquil rainforest room retreat on Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line is not JUST for kids, there is plenty for adults to do onboard

The only people who think Disney Cruises don’t have fun for adults, are people who have never been on one! You do not have to be a Disney loving adult to enjoy a Disney cruise either! Several of our clients sail Disney Cruise Line WITHOUT their children because they are THAT good and children are not everywhere. Seriously.

There are so many truly great adult only areas of the ship for you to enjoy, you may want to book another cruise for only the 2 of you, or for a girlfriends getaway.

Disney Cruise Adult only dining

Adding brunch or Dinner at Remy, Palo, or Enchante, the adult only dining options as mentioned above, are GREAT date night spots! If you are near the adult only pool, Cove Cafe offers a place to grab a quick bit without the kids!

Adult only pool areas on a Disney Cruise

Ever wanted to truly relax without the kids? Disney Cruise Line has a space for that! The Quiet Cove Pool is a tranquil Oasis for you to chill and relax, enjoy a soak in a whirlpool spa or soak up some rays on a kid-free sundeck.

If you are reading this hiding from a toddler in your bathroom, close your eyes and imagine yourself laying on a sundeck, feeling the warmth of the Bahamian sun on your face, the smell of the open ocean in your nose, and the sound of the ocean filling your ears. Your spouse has ordered you the drink of the day, and your kids are happily playing in the Kids Club and they don’t want to leave. We promise, it’s THAT good.

Did you say spa? Yes please!

Disney Cruise Line understands how important a spa is as part of the adult-only experience on board. Senses Spa onboard a Disney Cruise has a wide variety of experiences, but one of our absolute favorites is the Rainforest Room. On the Disney Wish, it is a Mom Approved favorite, and is breathtakingly beautiful.

Adult only onboard activities

There are trivia nights, nightclubs, silent disco, games, and specialty tastings for wine, martini, chocolate, liquor, and more. Some lounges are adult exclusive the entire sailing and there are lounges and spaces that become adult-only in the evening like Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish.

Adult only excursions

Some port stops even offer Adult only excursions, which are PERFECT for doing when you bring Grandmas and Grandpa to watch the kids. You can have an adults only vacation inside your family vacation!

P.S. on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, there is an adults only beach called Serenity Bay that it is so quiet you will forget kids are on the island!

Planning a Group cruise on Disney Cruise Line?

Extended family jumping to celebrate a shuffleboard win on the deck of a Disney cruise

We can create a Disney group cruise for your friends, family or club

If you are thinking about planning a cruise vacation for your large family, friends, travel ball team, Sunday School members, coworkers on an incentive trip or any other group, you should absolutely work with a Mom Approved Travel Advisor!

Did you know a travel agent can set up a group with Disney Cruise Line to possibly save money, or qualify for perks?  Your travel agent can handle all of the details for you, at no extra cost for your big group.

Of course, savings and perks are great, but the absolute BEST part of group cruising with Mom Approved Travel, is your Travel Advisor will be the one to handle the logistical issues of payments, price adjustments and answering common questions for all members of your group Disney cruise- not you! As the cruise group leader, all you have to do is pack!

We know you love your family and enjoy spending time with your friends; but reminding Uncle Robert it’s time to make final payment, telling Grandma to leave her iron at home or figuring out if your neighbor’s 4 year old child needs a passport is not something you need or should be worried about.

Mom Approved Travel can do it all for you. We think Disney Cruises without stress or drama is very Mom Approved!

If you have already booked your Disney Cruise with Disney Travel Company, depending on the circumstances we MAY be able to transfer it to the agency to allow your Advisor to assist without a fee within 30 days of booking, if you are outside of final payment.

Funny thing, that “certified Disney Travel Agent” term gets tossed around quite a bit- but no such term legally exists.

There are strict regulations set forth by Disney what Travel Advisors and Travel Agencies can call themselves in the legal mumbo jumbo. Believe us, you WANT a Professional Travel Advisor who understands terms & conditions well! Certified Disney Cruise Travel Agent is not one of them.

However, Mom Approved Travel is an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. We EARNED this designation given to us by Disney. All of our Travel Advisors are Graduates of the Disney College of Knowledge. Our Advisors hold various certifications through travel industry associations with the highest professional standards.

When you book with Mom Approved Travel, you are hiring a trustworthy Travel Professional who specializes in Disney destinations.

For most itineraries, the minimum age for babies to sail with a parent or guardian is 6 months at the time of embarkation; but some itineraries such as South Pacific, Transatlantic, Hawaii and Panama Canal repositioning cruises, the minimum age to sail is 1 year. Your MAT Advisor will be happy to review age requirements for the specific cruise you would like to sail with you.
