Disney Cruises to
Alaska
Alaska is one of Disney Cruise Line’s most distinctive destinations, and a very different vacation from a tropical Disney cruise.
Disney cruises to Alaska sail through the scenic Inside Passage, where the journey itself is part of the experience. Depending on the itinerary, families may visit historic port towns such as Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, experience glacier viewing, look for whales and other wildlife and choose Port Adventures ranging from scenic railways and cultural experiences to dog sledding and outdoor adventures.

Disney Cruises to the
Bahamas
The Bahamas is one of the destinations most closely associated with Disney Cruise Line and offers some of the widest variety of Disney cruise lengths and vacation styles.
Depending on the itinerary, Bahamian cruises may include Nassau, Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera.
For many families, the appeal is the combination of beautiful water and beaches, Disney’s island destinations and plenty of time to enjoy the ship itself. Shorter Bahamian sailings can also make it easier to combine a cruise with a Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando vacation, while longer itineraries may provide additional ports and sea days.
A Bahamas cruise can be a wonderful first Disney Cruise experience—but we don’t automatically recommend the shortest or most obvious itinerary simply because a family is new to cruising. The ship, number of nights, overall vacation budget and what your family wants to do still matter.

Disney Cruises to the
Eastern Caribbean
Eastern Caribbean Disney Cruise itineraries combine warm weather and beautiful beaches with island destinations throughout the region.
Depending on the sailing, ports may include destinations such as St. Thomas, Tortola, St. Maarten, Puerto Plata and other Caribbean islands, with select itineraries also including one of Disney’s Bahamian island destinations.
Eastern Caribbean cruises often appeal to families looking for a traditional tropical cruise vacation with a mix of beach time, sightseeing, water activities and relaxing days aboard the ship.
The ports included, and how much time you actually have to experience them vary considerably by itinerary, so we look beyond the words “Eastern Caribbean” when comparing sailings.
Disney Cruises to the
Western Caribbean
Western Caribbean itineraries typically explore destinations around Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and the western side of the Caribbean, depending on the sailing.
Ports may include places such as Cozumel, Costa Maya, Progreso, Falmouth and Grand Cayman, giving families opportunities to choose from beaches and snorkeling to historic sites, cultural experiences and outdoor adventures.
Western Caribbean itineraries can also be especially convenient for families who want to sail from Texas when Disney Cruise Line offers departures from Galveston.

Disney Cruises to the
Southern Caribbean
Southern Caribbean itineraries venture farther into the Caribbean and can introduce families to islands and ports that aren’t always included on the more common cruise routes from Florida.
Depending on the itinerary, these cruises may visit destinations such as Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia and other islands in the southern Caribbean.
These sailings can be particularly appealing when the destinations themselves are an important part of the vacation, rather than simply looking for a warm weather getaway.
Southern Caribbean cruises may also involve different departure-port and airfare considerations, so we factor the entire travel plan into the recommendation.
Disney Cruises to
Europe
A Disney cruise can be an especially family friendly way to introduce children, and extended families, to Europe.
Disney Cruise Line offers itineraries in regions including the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the British Isles and Norwegian fjords, depending on the season. Ports can provide access to some of Europe’s most celebrated cities, historical sites, coastal towns and cultural experiences.
The biggest difference between a European Disney cruise and a typical Caribbean sailing is often what happens off the ship. Port days can be long and sightseeing-intensive, and choosing the right itinerary requires looking at much more than the ship.

Disney Cruises to Baja California & the Mexican Riviera
Disney cruises from Southern California can visit destinations along Baja California and Mexico’s Pacific Coast, combining the ease of a cruise vacation with beaches, coastal scenery, culture and cuisine.
Depending on the itinerary, ports may include Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán, while some sailings may also include Catalina Island.
Shorter Baja itineraries and longer Mexican Riviera cruises offer very different vacation experiences, so this is another destination where we pay close attention to cruise length and ports rather than grouping every sailing from Southern California together.
These itineraries can also work particularly well for families who want to add time in Southern California or Disneyland Resort before or after their cruise.
Disney Cruises to
Bermuda
Known for its pink-sand beaches, turquoise water and distinctive blend of British and island culture, Bermuda offers a different experience from a typical Caribbean cruise.
Families can spend their time exploring beaches, caves, historic sites and colorful towns or enjoying boating, snorkeling and other water activities.
Bermuda’s location in the Atlantic also makes the overall cruise experience and seasonality different from The Bahamas or Caribbean. Disney Cruises along
the Pacific Coast
Pacific Coast cruises offer a completely different view of North America’s western coastline and are often available as Disney Cruise Line ships move between seasonal sailing regions.
Depending on the itinerary, families may travel between California and Vancouver and enjoy a combination of coastal scenery, sea days and select ports along the way.
Because Pacific Coast sailings are generally offered more selectively than year-round Bahamian or Caribbean cruises, they can be particularly interesting for repeat Disney cruisers looking for something different.
They can also create opportunities to combine a Disney cruise with a larger California, Pacific Northwest or Vancouver vacation.
Disney Cruises through
the Panama Canal
For families looking for a longer and more unusual Disney Cruise Line itinerary, a Panama Canal sailing can be a true bucket-list vacation.
These cruises allow guests to experience the engineering marvel of traveling through the Panama Canal while visiting a combination of ports in regions that may include Mexico, Central America, Colombia or the Caribbean.
Panama Canal cruises are typically longer repositioning voyages, which means considerably more time onboard than on a traditional short Disney cruise.
That extra time at sea can be wonderful for a family that really enjoys the Disney Cruise Line experience, but cruise length, school and work schedules, one-way airfare and transportation logistics make these sailings a very different planning decision.

Singapore & Southeast Asia
Disney Cruise Line has expanded into Southeast Asia with sailings from Singapore, bringing a very different kind of Disney cruise vacation to the fleet.
Singapore itself can be a major part of the travel experience, giving families the opportunity to build a larger international vacation around their Disney cruise. Depending on the itinerary and season, select voyages may also include regional ports of call.
For many families considering this destination, the cruise is only one piece of a much larger trip. International airfare, trip length, pre- and post-cruise stays, jet lag and how much of Asia the family wants to experience all factor into whether this is the right Disney Cruise vacation.
Specialty & Repositioning
Disney Cruise Itineraries
Not every Disney cruise fits neatly into one destination category.
As Disney Cruise Line moves ships between seasonal homeports and sailing regions, it may offer repositioning cruises, transatlantic voyages, Panama Canal crossings, Pacific Coast sailings and other limited itineraries.
These cruises can be fantastic opportunities for the right travelers. They are often longer, include more sea days and may visit combinations of ports that aren’t available on Disney’s more traditional itineraries.
For families, however, the additional vacation time, airfare, one-way transportation and school schedules need to be considered along with the appeal of the itinerary itself.
Transatlantic
Disney Cruises
Transatlantic Disney cruises allow guests to experience an extended voyage across the Atlantic as a ship travels between North America and Europe.
These longer cruises typically include numerous days at sea along with select ports in Europe, the Atlantic, The Bahamas or Caribbean depending on the itinerary.
For families who love being onboard a Disney ship, those sea days can be a major part of the attraction. For others, a more port-intensive itinerary may be a better fit.
This is exactly why we don’t choose a cruise based on the destination name alone.
Where Do Disney Cruises Depart From?
Where your Disney cruise starts can be nearly as important as where it sails.
Disney Cruise Line uses departure ports in the United States and around the world, with homeports changing throughout the year as ships move between sailing regions.
Depending on the season, Disney Cruise Line departures may be available from ports including Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, San Diego, Vancouver, New York, San Juan, Singapore and cities throughout Europe.
When we compare departure ports for our clients, we also look at:
- Airfare and flight schedules
- Whether a pre-cruise hotel stay is recommended
- Ground transportation
- Total vacation length
- Opportunities to add another destination before or after the cruise
- The ships and itineraries available from each port
A closer departure port isn’t automatically the least expensive or best option once the entire vacation is considered.
